Second meeting of the series "Per DIRE di NO": Harmful Relationships - When and How the Boundary Is Crossed

On 19 November 2024, RacMet ACADEMY hosted the second event of the series "Per DIRE di NO", organised by Raccorderie Metalliche in collaboration with the Municipality of Marcaria and the “Filippo Martani” Municipal Library. The seminar, under the title "Relazioni che feriscono: quando si supera il confine - Relationships that hurt: when crossing the line", had tas its participated Lawyer Paola Mari, President of Telefono Rosa Mantova, and Dr. Benedetta Bottura, psychologist and psychotherapist, expert in supporting situations of abuse.

During the evening, it was discussed how emotional and family relationships can become areas of suffering and abuse when certain boundaries are overstepped. Words, gestures, and behaviours that might initially appear as signs of control or manipulation can escalate into actual forms of psychological and, occasionally, physical violence. The Lawyer Mari and Dr. Bottura have invited the participants to recognize the signs of these dysfunctional dynamics and to reflect on how to overcome the cycle of abuse.

The meeting served as a period of reflection and support, designed to encourage participants to rediscover their own value and to appreciate the significance of a consciousness journey in rebuilding internal well-being. The accounts given offered valuable insights into tackling and breaking the cycle of violence with appropriate support.

The series "Per DIRE di NO" thus continues to foster dialogue and raise awareness about gender violence, urging the community to play an active role in achieving a genuine transformation towards a society that is both more respectful and conscious.

In these times, highly sensitive to issues of gender equality and gender violence, it is crucial to explore the significance of relationships. These relationships, being the core essence of our lives, play a pivotal role in enhancing our well-being and happiness. Thus, they affect the rights of women, the condition of women, equality of rights with men, and, ultimately, unfortunately, what we refer to as gender-based violence, which is tackled and managed daily through services like Telefono Rosa to support women facing difficulties.
